Student Admissions
Requirements
Degree. A baccalaureate degree
in a biological, chemical or physical science or in engineering
is required.
GRE. Students will be more favorably
viewed for admission if they have a combined Graduate Record Examination
score of 1900 or higher.
GPA. There is no absolute requirement
for grade point average above that required by the graduate school,
but successful applicants will generally have GPAs above 3.2 (A=4.0).
Prerequisite Courses. Students
seeking admission should have taken the following courses from an
accredited university. Students with deficiencies may be admitted,
but these must be rectified during the first year.
- Organic Chemistry - 2 semesters of lecture, 1 semester of laboratory.
- Physical Chemistry.
- General Physics.
- Mathematics through Calculus (1 year).
- Course Requirements for Graduate Students.
Recommended Courses. Courses
offered by The Program in Biomolecular Structure combined with courses
through the Departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics,
Cellular and Structural Biology, Pharmacology, and Pharmaceutical
Sciences are recommended. Since biomolecular structure impacts all
biomedical research, course requirements must be very flexible.
