  • Distinguished Medical Research Council of Canada Scientist Award 1995-2000. (The MRC career awards are considered to be the most prestigious of such awards in Canada.).

  • Alberta Science and Technology Award for Outstanding Leadership in Alberta Science from the ASTech Foundation 1995.

  • Boehringer-Mannheim Award from the Canadian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology 1995. (In recognition of a record of outstanding achievement in research in the field of biochemistry and/or molecular biology undertaken in Canada by a Canadian scientist.).

  • McCalla Research Professorship - University of Alberta 1995.

  • Alberta Science and Technology Awards, Finalist in the category for Innovation in Alberta Technology 1992.
